Welcome to Teaching with Nancy!
These materials are perfect for teaching your students about the origin and history of Thanksgiving. Your students will learn about the first Thanksgiving celebrated in Plymouth, President George Washington’s Thanksgiving Day Proclamation in 1789 and later President Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Day Proclamation in 1863.
Use these original documents translated into Spanish to lead class discussions, compare and contrast and write about the Thanksgiving holiday.
I’ve included writing prompts for students to demonstrate their learning and point of view. As well as lists of vocabulary words related to Thanksgiving to have students write their own Thanksgiving related stories.
A QR code is included that is linked to kid friendly site with more links and information about Thanksgiving. Use this site to help student research and find additional facts.
