Teach Like a Pirate

This summer I am reading Teach Like a Pirate by Dave Burgess.  I had been hearing about how good this book is on Twitter.  I bought it because I will be participating in a Twitter chat book study with the #educoach Twitter community.

If you have never participated in a book study on Twitter I highly recommend it.  Often the author of the book will chime in too and answer questions or share more of their insight on the topic.  It is also a great way to connect with other professionals that share your same passion and vision.

I have not finished the whole book yet but I love what I have read so far.  Dave begins by discussing the importance of teaching with passion.  As soon as I started reading what he wrote about passion, we connected.  Passion is such a vital ingredient not just for teachers, but for people in any profession.

In my opinion, a teacher without passion is like a body without a soul.  If you look at the people at the top of their field, you will find a very passionate person.  When things get tough it is that passion that will propel you to keep moving forward while others give up.

If you, like me, want to stir up that passionate fire in yourself and in teachers around you, I recommend you read Teach Like a Pirate.
