Did you know that letter fluency is a foundational skill highly indicative of future reading success? Rapid letter naming and letter identification are foundational pre-reading skills. Young children require lots of opportunities to practice working with letters in different ways in order to master letter fluency.
Here is an activity appropriate for prekindergarten and kindergarten. This activity will strengthen your students’ ability to look at letter symbols critically and assist them in becoming proficient at recognizing distinctive letter features of lowercase and uppercase letters while making upper to lowercase letter matches. I have included Spanish alphabet letters for those of you that teach in Spanish.
I hope your students enjoy learning their letters with this activity!
